Everyone keeps asking, “Who is this Nancy Toth Trupp that keeps sending out all of those reunion emails?” I figured that it was about time to put my current photo and my bio up on our web site so you could all have a visual of the face behind the computer keyboard. (Thanks, Kate, for doing this!)
Well, what have I been doing with my life during the last 40 years? Right after college graduation, in June of 1972, I married Peter Trupp. Yes, this is the same Peter Trupp who graduated in 1968 from Ludlowe…and NO, we did not date in high school. All that type of interaction happened during the college years, which was so much more fun. We have been married for 36 years and counting.
Peter and I have three children; Will (born in August of 1978), Jessa (born in December of 1985), and Drew (Nov. 1989-Oct. 1996). There is not a day that goes by that I don’t thank God for all three of my children and there is also not a day that goes by that I don’t miss my son.
As for my career, my undergraduate was in History and Social Studies, giving me Connecticut certification as a history teacher, which is my passion. I earned my MS in Reading and a 6th year, also in Reading, which gave me certification as a Reading and Language Arts Consultant. (I am currently employed at Fairfield Ludlowe High School, also known as RLHS, as the school’s Literacy Specialist under this certification.) Because I love learning, I also have a 7th year in Administration, which is good for very little! I have been teaching in Fairfield for 35 years.
The last 40 years have been a bit different than I would have imagined back in 1968, though most events are what I had hoped for. I always loved Fairfield and never wanted to live any place else, and I never did. I always wanted to teach, so that dream has also been realized. I wanted three children and hoped for a stable marriage with a man that I loved and who loved me, and I have been fortunate to have been blessed with these wishes, as well.
All in all, my life, with one exception, has been everything that I had hoped for at age 17. My good times have been blessed with the laughter of family and friends, and my dark times have been supported by their love.
Thank you all for being part of a wonderful set of ‘old’ memories, and I hope to see you in October to craft some new ones.
